CEO Statement – Karen Aldridge, Rebel Athletic

Rebel Athletic Dream Boutique at NCA Nationals

To our Rebel Family,

For more than a decade, Rebel Athletic has shown up for this industry with heart, innovation, and a commitment to serving athletes and parents with integrity. Every year, we invest heavily to bring our Dream Boutique experience directly to major events so families can shop in person without paying shipping, see new products before anyone else, and feel the excitement and magic that happens at the Rebel Dream Boutique.  This year, for NCA Allstar Nationals, we did exactly what we’ve always done: we secured a private space months in advance, signed a legal lease, and prepared to welcome thousands of you.

Our pop-up will be located at:

📍 The Grove | 1611 Lamar St. Houston, TX 77010

Unfortunately, after the convention center discovered the location of our privately rented space, they informed our landlord that they intend to erect a fence around our store. This fence will obstruct visibility, block one of the entrances entirely, and we’ve been told by our landlord after signing the lease, that we are not allowed to place signage on the fence to show that we are behind it.  Additionally, we’ve been told we cannot even display any outward facing signage – on our own leased building.

Let me be very clear:

  1. We did everything by the book.
  2. We rented a private, non-event-controlled space.
  3. We followed every rule, every contract, every deadline.
  4. And only after doing everything right were we told a barrier would be built to keep parents and athletes from finding us.

This is not just a business decision. This is an attempt to silence competition and prevent you, the families we serve, from accessing the products you love. It’s a tactic meant to hide us, but what it really reveals is how much our presence matters.

As the founder of Rebel, I refuse to allow intimidation or unfair practices to dictate how we show up for this sport. We will not be shut down. We will not be silenced. And we absolutely will not let a fence stop us.

If a fence goes up, we will make sure every parent and athlete knows exactly why it’s there… and who built it. You deserve transparency. You deserve fairness. And you deserve access to the brands you choose.

Thank you for your loyalty, your energy, and your unwavering support. Come see us at the address above… fence or no fence, we’ll be there with all the sparkle, service, and experiences you expect from Rebel.
